Message TT configuration although at much lower power levels since 2005.

ConVerTT 1.0 is still running just fine. Its is essentially a stock block with Stage 3 mods. Makes 350 /350 rwhp/rwtq on pump. Tuned by SpecialtyZ. Runs fine. (Yes a very long list of members have warned me of the impending "Boom". And I have tried to break it including 96 laps (192 miles) over two days at Oregon Raceway Park a few years back. Still waiting....)

v2.0 is the identical car with stock NA block and full breather mods except a 2.5" catback. I have tried two different configurations with this car -gt28rs and subsequently sport 500s. Long story short - SpecialtyZ tuned the car in each configuration. In both cases we couldnt get past 430 rwhp (pump) due to detonation. So they backed the tune down to 420 and I have been driving it ever since - runs fine just like v1.0.

The interesting thing with v2.0 - the dynos charts of the two different configurations (gt28rs vs sp500 same car) overlay almost perfectly. This was two years ago. At that time Greg and I discussed it at some length and came to the conclusion "the limiting factor must be the heads". Could be the cams, timing, or the physical configuration. So at that time I figured the next step was to change the heads to TT heads and some adjustable cam gears and see what happens. Basically never got around to it. (our local track closed, 420 rwhp is fine with a street car)

So up to two years ago I would have said " hi comp runs fine with a proper tune but overall power is limited due to detonation" and " can't prove it yet but I suspect that the limiting factor is the heads, not the compression ratio..."

So jump ahead to today. After reading MJs post I am absolutely convinced that he has found the key by freeing up the heads. As I mentioned, that would have been my next logical step as well. And then they have taken it a logical step further IMO - once you get the heads right, build the bottom end, tune it, and have at 'er :-)

That said, I am completely BLOWN AWAY by their results.

CLOSED For The SEASON :-(
